Oahu, Hawaii

One of the best parts of what we do is having the opportunity to travel to unique destinations around the globe. In this blog, we will break down some of the best locations to get married at in Oahu, Hawaii.

Imagine lush mountains surround by vibrant turquoise water, work in some Hawaiian culture and there's no reason why most consider this place the best for a destination wedding.

North Shore

What's better than a backyard wedding on an ocean front beach? Blake & Mackenzie's wedding took place on the Northshore of Oahu, in Hawaii. Everything about this wedding seemed like a movie, so we edited in a way that would best tell their story. Shortly after, Bright Sky Weddings was nominated for a LoveStories TV Award in the Best Story Telling in a Film category.

Dillingham Ranch

Tucked in behind rows upon rows of palm trees, located at the base of the Waianae Mountains is Dillingham Ranch . This historical property is a one-stop shop for those who are looking to get ready, married and party all in one place. With endless photo opportunities this place is a perfect spot for a destination in Hawaii. This location was the perfect choice for Aleks & Suzy who celebrated their Jewish wedding at this unique ranch.

Loulu Palms Estate

If you're looking for a backyard style wedding with an ocean front view, then the Loulu Plam's Estate is worth checking out. This location gives you the convenience of getting ready and married all in the same spot! *(It also includes a secluded beach in the back that is perfect for sunset photos.)

Turtle Bay Resort

Remember Forgetting Sarah Marshall, where Jason Segel's character get's dumped by Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell) so he jets off to Hawaii to clear his head, only to find that Sarah Marshall and her new Boyfriend (Russell Brand) are vacationing there? Anyway, that's Turtle Bay Resort and it makes for an excellent location to host a wedding! It has everything from an indoor chapel to event halls, it even has a massive grass landing and its own private beach (which is perfect for an outside wedding)!

Ko'Olina

On the west-side of Oahu is a magical place called Ko'Olina. Surrounded by the pacific ocean, this location practically checks off all the "must haves" for any destination wedding. If you're looking to capture the most amazing sunset photos, this is your spot.

Lanikuhonua

The Lanikuhonua site overlooks the Wainae mountains from the West-side of Oahu. Lined with palm trees and breathtaking views of the pacific ocean, this site is absolutely perfect to fulfill your destination dreams!

Waikiki

The first thing most people think of when they hear Hawaii is Waikiki. Waikiki is located about 15 minutes south of downtown Honolulu and has everything you can imagine. Hotel's, restaurants, beaches and friendly surf (if you're looking to surf for the first time, this is your spot).

The Royal Hawaiian Resort (Waikiki)

The Royal Hawaiian Resort is a timeless oasis found in the heart of Waikiki. It was one of the first hotels built on the beaches of Waikiki in 1927 and stands out with its bright pink exterior. It is one of the most sought after hotels in all of Hawaii.

Moana Surfrider Resort (Waikiki)

Kualoa Ranch

If you're looking for an ocean view wedding like you see in the Adam Sandler movies then this is your spot. In fact, this is the exact spot! Kualoa Ranch is home to some of the most iconic movies of all time including Jurassic Park, Godzilla and yes, Adam Sandler's 50 First Dates. Also known as Jurassic Valley, Kualoa ranch offers the ideal venue for a small to midsize destination wedding.

Lanikai

The east-side of the Oahu is known to most as the "Windward side". If you catch this place on a nice day, there is simply nothing better. It is also home to the Na Mokulua Islands that can be seen from the white sand beaches.

After shooting on and around the Islands of Hawaii for a few years, we had an amazing time learning the culture of the islands and all that it has to offer. We highly recommend the Oahu to anyone looking for the ideal destination.
